1967 Drivers

Link to Lo67 Season Fix

GPL is limited to 19 drivers.  There were no fewer than 41 drivers who participated in the 1967 season.  Again, presumably because of licensing problems, the 19 chosen omit some important drivers.  In selecting 19 drivers for the season, I have given priority to those drivers who drove in the most races.  However, I have also given priority to drivers who started the season but who were killed or injured during it (e.g. Bandini and Parkes) and replacement drivers have been omitted.  Changes from the standard GPL drivers are as follows: -

Drivers added
Jackie Stewart and Mike Spence (Owen Racing/BRM), who competed in all 11 GPs in 1967;
Bob Anderson (DW Racing), who entered six GPs before his fatal accident; and
Guy Ligier, who entered seven GPs in 1967.

Drivers omitted
Jean-Pierre Beltoise, who entered only three and qualified for only two GPs in 1967, driving a Matra not modelled by GPL;
Richie Ginther, who entered only one GP in 1967 and failed to qualify;
Mike Parkes, who, although he raced in two GPs for Ferrari, was really a replacement for Lorenzo Bandini;
Jackie Ickx, who only entered two GPs and was a replacement for the injured Pedro Rodriguez.

How to use these files

With the number of computer opponents set to 19, these files will result in a three-car Ferrari team.   As discussed in the background information on the Ferrari team, it can be argued that a two-car team would be more representative.  To have Ferrari as a two-car team, set the number of computer opponents to 18.   To omit Ligier and Anderson, set the number to 16.

Helmet colours Some of GPL's driver's helmets are the wrong colour.  The Season Fix corrects these errors.   Click on title on left for details.
1967 car numbers In modern F-1, the teams and drivers keep their car numbers for the season.  In 1967, this was not the case, with drivers typically using 6 or so different numbers during the season.  The driver's numbers can be changed, but using the standard numbers means fewer problems when using car patches from other sources.  Drivers in the same team would usually have consecutive numbers (mainly the case with GPLs standard numbers) and no one was allocated the number 13 (not the case in GPL).
